The race, which includes both a 5K run and 1 mile run, will start at The Department of Family and Child Services, 125 Henry Parkway in McDonough, at 1 p.m.
Race registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. and close at 12:45 p.m.
To register for the 5K race, the cost is $25 before the race and $30 on race day.
The cost for the 1 mile run is $20 before the race and $25 on race day.
A tot trot, for children, will also occur on race day at 1:30 p.m.
Nan Jenkins, director of development, said the inaugural race last year went well, prompting its return this year.
“One our board members brought the idea to us last year,” she said. “We had a lot of people ask if we were going to do it this year, so we decided to go ahead and give a try.”
The first ‘Love Run’ was well attended.
Jenkins said 400 registered and 350 were present on race day.
“We’re hoping to repeat that,” she said.
To increase attendance and to get the word out, Jenkins said a variety of methods will be used.
“We have a great base of supporters here at A Friend’s House,” she said.
“We have a great email database, we utilized social media and had flyers in local running stores. We will do all of those things again this year.”
Jenkins encouraged the community to participate in the organization’s second run to fundraise for A Friend’s House, a nonprofit dedicated to meeting the emotional and physical needs of children in crisis.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to not only feel good about helping themselves by staying physically fit, but it helps to support a great cause,” she said. “It is a fun way to support a great cause.”
A Friend’s House’s next event, their biggest fundraiser, is Taste of Henry to be held on April 19.
