With the regular season nearing its end, the Lithia Springs boys’ basketball team was 18-4 prior to playing New Manchester last week.

A player who has been an influence on younger teammates throughout the season has been Beau Carter.

Standing 5-foot-8, Carter is a point guard and captain for the Lions.

As a senior, Carter is in his fourth season on the varsity team. He currently averages 12 points, four assists and three rebounds a game.

According to head coach J.W. Cantrell, there are two games that stood out as being Carter’s best games.

“He had a season high 25 points, against Riverdale (Dec. 22) but I think his best game was against Hiram (Jan. 18). He had 12 points and eight assists,” said Cantrell.

As a player, Cantrell said Carter is “hard-working, smart and fearless.”

After playing under Cantrell for four years, Carter has gained basketball experience and learned Cantrell’s system. With that knowledge, Cantrell said Carter acts as a guide for the less experienced players on the team.

“[He’s a] good teammate who always tries to help the younger guys,” Cantrell said.

As a senior wrapping up his high school basketball career, Carter is looking to play ball at the next level. With no commitment made at this time, Cantrell said Carter is looking.

“He is going on an official visit to Delaware State in February,” Cantrell said.
