After competing in the Region 5-AAAAA golf tournament, Woodland senior Brittney Sizemore finished as the low medalist for girls with a score of 89, shooting from the men’s tee box.

Sizemore has played golf for Woodland since she was a freshman and head coach John Howard said she has made strides over the years.

“She has improved every year, taking strokes off her game and constantly working to improve her mental focus,” said Howard.

As the only senior on a team of six, Howard said Sizemore has done a “wonderful job” of leading the team.

She is described as being very competitive with others as well as herself, along with being a “great teammate.”

Her strength, according to Howard, is her ability to hit the ball a “long way.”

“Most female golfers are not as powerful as she is,” he said.

Playing only nine-hole matches this season, other than region, Sizemore’s best round this year was a 40.

Howard said Sizemore was a hard worker on and off the course as she “balances the life of a student-athlete extremely well.”

As a senior, Sizemore is preparing to play at the collegiate level after signing a scholarship with NCAA Division II Young Harris College, where she will play for head coach Brett Beazley.
