After eight games, the Excel Christian Eagles are 8-0 and looking to keep the streak going.

With such a good start to the season, head coach Jon-Michael Nickerson is pleased with how his team is performing, but noted one player who is doing exceptionally well.

At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, Elijah Robinson is a senior and starter for the boys’ basketball team. Playing at, what Nickerson calls, “point forward”, Robinson is described as a hybrid player who can play multiple positions.

This is Robinson’s first year as a varsity player for the Eagles. While Robinson “had varsity talent” last year, according to Nickerson, Robinson had to play on the JV team due to enrollment complications when he transferred schools.

Robinson is currently averaging 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five blocks per game. He is also shooting at 71 percent from the free throw line.

“His best game was against Rockmart. Two of our main players were in foul trouble and helped us out. He had 21 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and four blocks,” said Nickerson.

In the last two games, against Chattooga and LaFayette, Robinson had a double-double and Nickerson said he is on his way to a triple-double very soon.

Robinson is said by Nickerson to be a hard worker with a basketball IQ that is “through the roof”, as well as a leader for the team, both vocally and by example.
