Finishing the regular season 16-8, the Paulding County boys’ basketball team made great strides from last year, making this their first winning season with head coach Anthony Cayetano.

One player Cayetano said he felt deserved to be recognized for his efforts this season was Raasean Davis.

“He is a representation of hard work paying off. Raasean has put in tremendous amounts of hard work in the offseason,” said Cayetano.

As a 6-foot-7 junior, Davis plays center for the Patriots. Davis is not a captain, but according to Cayetano, he is a vital piece of the team’s puzzle.

“He is the anchor for our team and his upside is limitless,” Cayetano said.

Currently averaging 16 points a night, Davis is the team’s leading scorer. Also averaging 16 rebounds a night, Davis has had several double-doubles this season. He also averages two blocks a night.

Cayetano said rebounding has been Davis’ biggest area of improvement this season.

Davis has played for Paulding County since his freshman year. Progressing each season, Cayetano said this season was the big jump for Davis resulting from his offseason work ethic.

“The coaching staff really pushed Raasean to get stronger in the weight room. He really pushed himself and it has paid off for him,” Cayetano said.

Cayetano described Davis as a “very versatile player” and a “great teammate.”

“The other players respect him. I am really proud of how he has been more vocal to the other players,” said Cayetano.
