This season, the Chapel Hill Panthers have been up and down as they are currently 4-3, but they recently scored a 17-13 victory over Douglass on Oct. 12.

A huge reason for that win was Tre Mitchell.

The senior running back put on a great performance in such a close game.

During the Douglass game, Mitchell rushed for 258 yards and scored the Panthers’ only two touchdowns of the night.

Over the first six games of the season, Mitchell rushed for 1,195 yards. Mitchell also scored nine of Chapel Hill’s touchdowns, giving him 54 of the team’s 87 total points.

First year head coach Geoff Pastrick described Mitchell’s game, saying he “runs hard and blocks hard.”

Pastrick also said stats like these are how Mitchell has helped the team.

“He’s rushed for 1,200 yards in six games — enough said,” Pastrick said following the Douglass game.

During the Panthers’ first region game of the season against Rockmart on Sept. 21, Mitchell contributed 308 rushing yards to a 23-14 victory for his best game statistically this year.

Mitchell not only helps his team by rushing for hundreds of yards every game, but he also provides leadership and a positive attitude.

“He helps the younger players. He pushes all the players and he’s positive with all the players and coaches,” said Pastrick.
