The city of Alpharetta will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Monday at 10 a.m. to kickoff the construction of the City Center project.

The ceremony will take place behind Alpharetta City Hall along the old Haynes Bridge Road.

The $29 million downtown development project was approved in 2011 after residents voted in favor of a bond referendum.

Construction was completed in December on the re-location of Haynes Bridge Road — the first major part of the project.
