“Dasia stepped up for us in a big way and provided some much needed scoring for us,” Hiram head coach Kevin Thomas said.
Hiram advanced to the second round of the playoffs but dropped its contest against Dunwoody. The Lady Hornets finished this season with 31 wins this season, which matches last season’s total, and won 16 of its last 19 matches. Hiram has averaged more than 30 wins each of Smith’s three seasons with the team.
“We had a good season because we lost strong seniors from last year and still made the second round,” Smith said. “Hopefully, we’ll go further next year.”
Smith also plays for club team Push 1 and participates in sand volleyball as well.
“I’ve been able to improve by playing for different teams and becoming more aware of the court,” Smith said.
Smith is the vice president of the Beta Club at Hiram as well as a part of the Spanish Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club and the Technical Student Association. She hopes to major in graphic engineering or architecture in college.
