Junior Kia Jefferson has been a strong presence for East Paulding, averaging more than 10 points and eight rebounds per contest along with nearly three steals.
“Kia is a leader that is consistently driving her teammates to reach their full potential,” Skelton said.
Jefferson, who has been on the varsity roster for two seasons, attributes her success to her teammates.
“We have good movement on offense which allows me to drive to the basket and score,” Jefferson said. “Our team chemistry has been much better and Coach Skelton knows what’s good for our team.”
The junior has seen her leadership role increase.
“We have to teach the younger players and make sure that they understand what needed on the court,” Jefferson said.
Jefferson has been a member of Health Occupations Students of America, an organization for future health professionals, for two years and plans to major in physical therapy upon entering college.
“I want to help people like the physicians who assisted me when I injured my knee last year,” Jefferson said.
She also is considering enlisting in the Navy, as well.
The Raiders return to action on Jan. 28 against Rome.
