The North Fulton Community Improvement District has begun work on a new master plan for the commercial district, which stretches along Ga. 400 through Roswell, Alpharetta and Milton.

Titled Blueprint North Fulton 2.0, the master plan will outline priorities for the next decade of district investments in North Fulton.

The dustrict completed its initial master plan in 2008.

Blueprint North Fulton identified a list of priority transportation and quality of life improvement projects for the commercial corridor.

Since 2008, the master plan has guided district investments as the organization has addressed all of its Tier 1 priority projects, including the completion of several key transportation and landscape improvements, and partnering with the city of Alpharetta to open Westside Parkway.

“The CID has had significant success in executing transportation projects, improving the quality of life and establishing four beautiful interchanges that brand our commercial district in north Fulton,” said District 21 state Sen. Brandon Beach, R-Alpharetta, executive director of the North Fulton district. “Building on this success, our new Blueprint will update our plans and guide future improvements within the District.”

Since its inception, the North Fulton CID has invested $15 million of commercial property- owner funds to advance more than $78 million worth of transportation and infrastructure improvements. While that’s made an incredible difference to the local community, the change in the economy also has made the commercial business market considerably more competitive, Beach said.

Blueprint 2.0 will outline a new list of district priorities and projects, guiding the district’s investments over the next five to 10 years.

The district’s urban design team, led by Eric Bosman of Kimley-Horn, has begun development of a needs assessment considering changes in local and regional office markets and assessing partnership opportunities for the future.

This spring, the Kimley-Horn team will begin reaching out to area property owners and stakeholders to gather their input on new priorities for the District. Similar to the first master plan, the district will then host a public open house this summer to review the list of potential improvement projects and address any questions.

“We’re excited for what’s to come with the Blueprint 2.0,” Beach said. “We look forward to seeing the final product and feel confident that our implementation will be equally as successful in creating an even more vibrant and sustainable north Fulton.”
