Cartersville police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a suspected arsonist.

Phillip Roger Bennett is being sought in connection with a fire that occured Wednesday afternoon on Boatner Avenue in Cartersville.

Bennett is described as a six-foot-one inch 58-year-old white male with gray/dark hair weighing 220 pounds.

He was last seen driving a dark red or maroon 1997 Ford Ranger pickup with the Georgia license plate number BLP6438.

According to Captain Mark Camp with the Cartersville Police Department, Bennett is wanted for allegedly setting fire to a neighbor's home Wednesday.

Camp said Bennett allegedly confronted his neighbor in regards to his grass not being cut and according to the victim, Bennett broke a window, poured gasoline inside the home, and set it on fire.

The victim and his 3-year-old daughter were in the house at the time but were able to escape without injury Camp said.

Camp said there has been an ongoing feud of some sort between the neighbors, who live across the street from each other.

Camp said Bennettt should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately.
