The event will feature a Business After Hours for Chamber members on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and will be open to the general public on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We’re trying something different,” said Leslie McMillan, government and community development with the Chamber of Commerce. “We’re trying to be more innovative and try something new.”
Held at the Clarence Brown Conference Center, the event showcases local businesses, but this year is the first to feature food vendors who will be selling food onsite.
More than 80 businesses will be participating in the Business Showcase which for the first time will have vendors selling their products during the showcase.
For the Business After Hours on Friday, admission is $5 for Chamber members. Admission to the general public on Saturday also is $5.
Northside Bank is a presenting sponsor for the event along with Harbin Clinic and Greg Smith, who works with the bank, said being a part of the Business Showcase is a good opportunity.
“We as an organization are very excited to be given an opportunity to do this,” Smith said. “This is one of those opportunities we have to get more involved in the Chamber. To be closely connected to the Chamber and the community is important. It’s very important for us to stay in front of our small businesses in the community and let them know we are there for them.”
James Hall, owner of JDH Electric and co-chairperson of the Business Showcase said the event offers the chance to see the wide range of businesses located in Bartow County.
“You may discover businesses you may not have known were in our community that could be of value to you,” Hall said.
Door prizes will be given out every hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Prizes include an autographed jersey from former Braves Manager Bobby Cox, an iPad from Wal-Mart, a round of golf at Barnsley Gardens, an SUV rental from Enterprise and a designer rug from Delos Rugs.
“You’ve got all day to come out and enjoy the Business Showcase,” said C & C Gutters’ Nicole Hughes, who also is a co-chairperson. “We’ve got a lot to offer this year.”
