The Paulding Chamber of Commerce is organizing a new trade group to help the county’s manufacturers grow through teamwork.

Chamber president and CEO Carolyn Wright told members of the Paulding County Industrial Building Authority last week her organization is working to form a manufacturers’ alliance.

She said chamber officials decided to form the group after seeing the success of the Paulding Aerospace Alliance, formed in August. The aerospace group, consisting of companies like Rotor Works and Top Flight Aerostructures, started working together to grow each others’ businesses and attract more companies like them to the county.

The chamber wants to give the same opportunity to Paulding manufacturers, Wright said.

“We don’t know until we get this group together what they will want to discuss,” she said.

Chamber officials have sent 25 invitations for membership to the group. The first meeting of the alliance should be at the end of April or beginning of May, Wright said.

“It is about exchanges of ideas and how to grow,” she said.

In other reports at the meeting, Chris Cochran, general contractor of the Haddad Project, said they are hoping to have Haddad Inc., a specialized trailer company for movie and television crews, in its new Dallas location by May 1.

“We are almost finished,” he said.

Cochran said the building is complete and the Haddad Project is 90 percent done on the way to opening for business. They are working to get the utilities in the building for completion.

Haddad is planning to lease a part of the building to a separate company — likely a catering company — which will service the film industry, he said.

The contractors are hoping to have them in by May 1 as well, Cochran said.

The project is being built in the new Dallas Industrial Park.

Authority Executive Director Blake Swafford said another tenant is planning to locate in the park, and will be announced when they are sure their funding is available.

The business will have 40 employees.
