The first official rehearsal is Sept. 4, 7 to 9:30 p.m.. Seasonal auditions attracted 18 new singers which enhanced this past concert season on an exciting note. Several new auditionees have been scheduled since the early spring / summer auditions and now during August through September for the upcoming concert season.
The projected performances include the “Family Christmas Concert” on Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. and the “Easter / Spring Concert” on March 19, 8 p.m., at the Douglas County High School Performing Arts Hall (Mashburn Theater).
As stated by the chorale’s Board in a statement, “Through WADCS our singers learn more about music professionally and make friendships with people that will last a lifetime. Truly our WADCS ‘Silver Anniversary’ last year was one of the finest successful concert seasons ever and certainly affirmed our long and professional history. We were honored by our own Douglas County Commissioners with their ‘Proclamation Recognizing and Commending The Extraordinary Community Contributions and Volunteer Efforts of The West Atlanta / Douglas Choral Society Inc.’ at our Easter / Spring Concert. The document also reflected the Douglas County Board of Commissioners declaring March 20, 2012 as the West Atlanta / Douglas Choral Society, Inc. Day in Douglas County, Georgia.
“Our 25th season was enhanced with our professional programming implemented by our chorale family and team which was reflected in a superb magazine. We could not have done any more to reflect our high profile position in the Douglas County / Atlanta / West Georgia community.”
Concert repertoire generally includes a variety of audience favorites consisting of sacred / secular seasonal choral and instrumental selections (classical, contemporary, Broadway musical, and spiritual choral anthems to solos, etc.). Featured guest artists from local to national levels are also included. Interested musicians at all levels seeking a well organized and professional experience in a supportive and nurturing environment are welcome to audition!
