Paulding County is preparing to start its annual paving of roads throughout the county.

The Paulding County Board of Commissioners voted at last week’s meeting to approve three contracts for asphalt and paving. Total number of miles to be paved is 34.6 miles, said Department of Transportation Director Scott Greene.

Awards were given to low bidder Northwest Georgia Paving Inc. for $1,829,274.50. For this contract the county has a grant from the state for $1,172,937.51, which leaves $656,336.99 to be paid out of the Paulding DOT’s budget, said Finance Director Tabitha Pollard. A check from the state has been received for the project, she said.

Commissioners also awarded separate asphalt contracts to Northwest for $336,996; and C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. for $383,201.

“These we are using general funds,” Pollard said.
