Entries must be received in District 13 U.S. Rep. David Scott’s Jonesboro or Smyrna district offices. High school students from throughout Georgia’s 13th District, which includes Douglas County, are invited to submit artwork for the competition.
The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to showcase the artistic talents of high school students in the 13th District. Students may obtain entry forms and guidelines from their high school art teachers and Congressman Scott’s Office.
Scott will host an awards ceremony naming this year’s top winners on March 16 at the Arts Clayton Gallery. The first place entry from Scott’s district will join other first place winners from around the country and be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Scholarships will be presented to the top winners as follows: $10,000 – first place, $5,000 – second place, $2,500 – third place, and $1,000 – fourth place, all from the Art Institute of Atlanta; and $3,000 per year to the first-place winner by the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Additionally, artwork submitted to the competition will be on display in a special exhibit hosted by the Arts Clayton Gallery from March 1 to 28.
