Three of the opportunities for children are Camp Science Says, Craft Camp and Theatre Camp.
The science camp is scheduled for June 17 through 21. Times for ages 3 through 5 is 9 a.m. to noon, and ages 6 to 9 is from 1 to 4 p.m. Students will meet at Earl Duncan Park at Paulding Meadows, 724 Paulding Meadows Drive, Dallas.
For five days campers will study the topics of archeology; botany, which is the study of plants; chemistry; ecology, the study of organisms and their interaction with their environment; and zoology, the study of animals, said Michele Morgan, program coordinator at Mount Tabor Park.
“We are going to have fun finding out what those words mean,” she said.
Each day the children will study a different subject; these can range from recycling with ecology to a live animal exhibit with zoology.
“It is all about fun, and getting that little glimpse of science,” Morgan said.
The maximum number of campers is 60, and 43 children were signed up as of May 29. Registration ends Friday, June 7. Fee for the camp is $31.

Taylor Farm Park is hosting Craft Camp and Theatre Camp, both July 15 through 18. Cost for each is $51, which will pay for all materials needed.
Craft Camp is scheduled from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The camp is for ages 6 through 14. Children will create salt ceramic sculptures, paper mache, bracelets, rock critters and more, said Lindsay Zerressen, program coordinator at Taylor Farm.
This is the fifth year of Craft Camp. The maximum number of students is 16, and eight spots were already taken as of May 29.
The county has not hosted Theatre Camp in about nine years, she said.
“So far the response has been positive,” Zerressen said.
Children ages 6 to 16 can sign up for the camp, which has a maximum of 16 spots. Four spots had been taken as of May 29.
Campers are scheduled to perform “Stone Soup” July 18 at noon. Camp will last from noon to 1:30 p.m. each day.
“[These camps] give the parents a variety of choices for the summer,” she said.
Registration for the camps ends July 12. For more information about the camps at Taylor Farm, call (770) 222-3270.
