The unbeaten Seminoles will travel to Newnan to meet Northgate in a sub-region 4B-AAAAA contest. Creekside improved to 5-0 all-time against the Vikings with a 20-16 victory last year.
On the second stop of their four-game road trip, the Seminoles improved to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the region with a 37-3 win over Starr’s Mill last Friday. Meanwhile, Northgate had its three-game winning streak ended due to a 17-6 loss to Whitewater last Friday.
Landmark Christian attempts to push closer to a perfect regular season as well. The War Eagles will make their way to Locust Grove to face off with Strong Rock Christian this Friday.
With a 17-13 win over Our Lady of Mercy this past Friday, Landmark improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 5-A. Senior Darius Smith had a 21-yard rushing TD in the fourth quarter to put the War Eagles ahead for good.
As far as Landmark and Strong Rock, the War Eagles have convincingly shut out the Patriots in all three matchups.
Langston Hughes may not be perfect like Landmark and Creekside, but the Panthers have been just as impressive. Since their opening-week loss to the Seminoles, the Panthers have won four straight games.
Coming off a bye, Langston Hughes will head to Douglasville this Friday to battle Douglas County in the Region 3-AAAAAA opener for both teams. Last season, the Panthers topped the Tigers 34-7.
The Westlake Lions are also returning to the field from a bye--actually two weeks off. The 3-2 Lions will begin Region 3-AAAAAA competition in Sharpsburg against East Coweta (2-3).
In Class AAA, the Woodward Academy War Eagles will travel to Avondale Stadium to meet Towers this Friday. Last week, Woodward upped its record to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Region 6-AAA with a 37-7 triumph over Decatur.
Terry Googer threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 115 yards and two scores.
