The episode featuring Bella was set for broadcast July 25, at 9 p.m.
The toddler’s parents submitted her to be on the show, and she was cast at 24 months, according to her mother. She is now 30 months old.
“She will be one of the youngest to be featured, so we were really surprised when we got it,” Ms. Winkowski said.
The episode will follow Bella and other young beauty queens at the “Out of This World” pageant in Darien, Ga.
The tot has been doing pageants since she was 15 weeks old, her mother said.
“My stepdaughter actually came home from school one day and told us she wanted to be in a fundraiser pageant when she was 10,” said Ms. Winkowski. “I was kind of like, ‘We’re not pageant people,’ but we kind of got into it and put Bella in, and she won everything, and we’ve been doing them ever since.”
Bella has participated in about 50 pageants and has won 43 to 45 times, according to her mother.
However, Bella did not win the pageant she was featured on in the show, Ms. Winkowski said.
Ms. Winkowski said the show was “very scripted.”
“A lot of the situations were very set up,” she said. “They asked if we were ever late to pageants, and we said no, so they set up a situation where they made it look like we were late and wouldn’t let her get on stage.”
“You have to take everything that happens on the show with a grain of salt,” she said.
The mother said that while the toddler had seemed to love being in pageants, the parents had always said they would never force her to do them. Bella currently is taking a break from pageants and sticking to gymnastics, Ms. Winkowski said.
Some have criticized child pageants and the show for alleged exploitation of the young contestants, but Ms. Winkowski said she and her husband keep everything age-appropriate for their daughter.
“We always put her in age-appropriate outfits,” she said. “She was a ‘one-eyed, one-horned, flying, purple people-eater’ for this pageant, since it was space-themed.”
Ms. Winkowski said the show did not pay for any pageant fees and did not pay them any royalties.“It probably cost us more money than it was worth, because we hadn’t planned on doing that pageant until we got the call from TLC,” said the mother.
