Panthersville Stadium plays host to the DeKalb County Track and Field

Championships once again in 2013 as the field events and prelims are set

for Saturday (March 30) at 9 a.m.

The Dunwoody Wildcats are going for their third consecutive title in 2013.

The Wildcats won their first ever county title in 2011 and made it two

consecutive in 2012 with a tight 71-70 victory over the Lakeside Vikings.

Coach Nathaniel Webb’s squad is looking to become just the seventh

DeKalb team to win three consecutive county titles. Redan was the last to

do so, winning six consecutive titles from 2004-2009.

Southwest DeKalb held off Dunwoody 113.5 to 90 to win the school’s sixth

consecutive girls’ county championship and 11th overall in 2013.

The Lady Panthers face a tough test from reigning Class AAAA state

champion Redan, Class AAAAA runner-up Martin Luther King Jr. and Dunwoody

as they go for seven in a row.

The long jump kicks off the field event finals at 9 a.m. on Saturday with

the track prelims set to begin at 3 p.m. with the 4x100 meter relays.

Two finals will be run in the track events on Saturday including the

boys’ 1600 meter run and the girls’ 3200 meter run.
