There are 654,120 registered voters throughout the county and according to voter turnout, this year’s presidential election is seeing record numbers.
“The first 9 days of early voting in 2008 was 17,158, the first 9 days of advance voting for 2012 is 63,593,” said Interim Director of Registrations and Elections Sharon Mitchell.
Mitchell stepped into her role with the county after primary elections went poorly.
“To ensure elections are running smoothly, I am focusing on training, incorporating data from lessons learned documents into current plans, collaborating with key stakeholders, increased staffing levels, improved process improvements, and improving direct oversight of activities,” she said.
Mitchell also said early voter turnout has been the highest at the South Service Center, which as of Oct. 26 at 5 p.m., had seen 16, 997 voters.
Early voting will continue through Friday.
South Fulton residents can vote early at the South Service Center, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road in Atlanta, and Adamsville Recreation Center, 3201 Martin Luther King Jr Drive SW in Atlanta.
Hours for the polls are in effect Monday through Friday.
