Chamblee's Jessica Farrell
Chamblee’s Jessica Farrell continues to put her stamp on the Lady Bulldogs’ 2012 season.

The junior outside hitter led Chamblee to a 3-1 win over Alexander in the first round of the GHSA Class AAAA playoffs last week.

Farrell recorded 13 kills, seven service aces and three blocks as the Lady Bulldogs rolled on to the next round. That performance is merely the continuation of a stellar junior season that has seen Farrell consistently rank among the DeKalb County leaders in two of those three categories.

“Jessica is probably our most integral player and by far our best offensive weapon,” said Chamblee head coach Lorri Reynolds. “She’s also a great team leader.”

The 5 foot 11 standout’s maturation has been a thing to behold, team insiders say. Her success has paralleled that of the team — the Lady Bulldogs finished as runner-up to Marist in the Area 5-AAAA regular season standings.

“She’s really come into her own,” said Reynolds. “Last year, she was behind a couple seniors … this year, she has really taken charge.

Farrell has managed to meld her physical gifts with some can’t-lose intangibles.

“She’s one of the strongest girls I’ve met ... in fact, she can attack the basket from anywhere on the court,” said Reynolds. “And, she’s a fighter — she definitely will rise to the occasion.”
