Already known as one of the best athletes walking the halls of Roswell High School, Amber Lewis established herself as the most dynamic track star in Fulton County March 25, claiming county championships in three different events and leading the Lady Hornets to a second place finish at the 16-school meet.

“She picked up 30 points on her own which was huge for us,” said Roswell track coach Andy Schultz, whose girls’ team totaled 79 points and narrowly edged Alpharetta for second place at the county meet, which was held at Johns Creek High School.

“She was dominant in both hurdle events, which have been her strong suit for three years, and she had a really good day in the long jump, an event she has worked hard to improve on.”

Lewis’ time of 14.99 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles was .71 seconds faster than her closest competition, her 45.21 second run in the 300-hurdles was .39 seconds clear of second place, and her 17-foot, four inch leap in the long jump made her the only female in the county to eclipse the 17 foot barrier.

“She is in our relay groups too and could run sprints and high jump for us if we needed her there,” said Schultz of his junior track star.

“Amber is just one of those special kids who can do anything they want to athletically.”
