Dutchtown’s Domonique Clune hard work and drive continue to pay off.

That’s evident in the level of the dynamic senior’s individual play — which has translated into team success for the 16-5 Lady Bulldogs.

“She’s one of those kids who just has this affinity for basketball,” said Dutchtown coach April Tate. “Her work ethic is second to none … always the first [player] to practice and the last to leave.”

Clune has also wasted little time in asserting herself on the court.

Clune, averaging around 19 points per game this season, recently became just the second player in Dutchtown history to score 1,000 points — a milestone she reached in just two and a half seasons.

The 5 foot 10 California transplant has also stepped it up on the boards, nearly pulling down double figure rebounds per game.

Night in and night out, she’s anchored the Lady Bulldogs from every position save for point guard. An indication of her value to the team can perhaps be summed up by her recent performance in a losing effort to region-leading Woodland: Clune logged 13 points, 15 rebounds and a couple assists that night.

Her hardwood exploits aside, Clune has excelled just as much in the classroom — see her 3.8 GPA and 1600 score on the SAT as proof.

“She’s outstanding,” Tate said. “It’s almost like, what more could you ask for in a student-athlete?”
