A big reason for their recent success has been the play of Kelsey Royalty, a sophomore point guard that has come into her own during her second season of varsity basketball.
“She’s been so consistent for us this season and in our recent run she has led us in scoring in every single one of those games,” said Fellowship basketball coach Clay Price. “On offense she has been excellent at pushing the ball and getting easy baskets on the fast break, and when she isn’t scoring she has excelled at distributing the ball to her teammates.”
Price went on to say that Royalty’s prowess on the court this winter has been a by-product of the experience she gained as a starter on the varsity level during her freshman season.
“She held her own against some of the best teams and players in the state last year and has only gotten better since then.”
A three-sport athlete at Fellowship, Royalty also stars on the tennis courts in the spring and softball diamond in the fall — where she was a second team all-region selection this season.
“She’s just one of those girls blessed with the God-given ability to be great in any sport she plays,” said Price.
