“My main goal is just to win another state championship which is always nice,” Vocelka said. “Also be a goal scorer because that is what the team needs.”
The Golden Lions appear in good shape for another title run and at press time were 10-2 with a nine-game winning streak. But they will have to reach this feat without a key senior Kaitlyn Orman.
“She hurt her ACL and will miss the rest of the season so that was devastating,” Vocelka said. “We just have to persevere--take that in stride and win for her.”
Although before the playoffs, Vocelka has her sights set on a few dates, including the Golden Lions’ opponent on April 1.
“Blessed Trinity is probably going to be one of our most intense games,” she said. “We played them in the state championship game last year and that was such a close game.”
Whether or not Vocelka wins her third state title as a member of the St. Pius girls’ soccer team, she will continue playing next year at Villanova.
“I really liked that it’s a good academic school and I also liked the soccer program,” said Vocelka, who will major in business.
