Turnovers usually lead to easy baskets or multiple trips to the foul line. Stockbridge sophomore Caitlyn Williams greatly reaped the benefits of this theory.

As a result of her defense and athleticism, Williams had 25 points and 11 steals in a 74-18 home win against Towers last Saturday.

“I wasn’t expecting to get as many steals as I did,” Williams said. “This was my best game this season. I didn’t think I would score as many points as I did.”

“She is able to do that against anybody because she is one of the more athletic girls in the conference,” Stockbridge girls’ coach L.J. Taylor said.

Williams scored seven of the game’s first 13 points, which were all scored by the Lady Tigers who led 18-2 at the end of the first quarter. After Stockbridge stretched its lead to 33 points at halftime, she continued to make an impact on both ends of the floor, adding 10 more points and four steals.

“Even though we let up, I like the fact that she played hard throughout the game,” Taylor said.

Senior Amlin Sanders finished with 17 points and four steals for the Lady Tigers, who had a total of 37 steals.

“The team came together and we worked hard together,” said Williams, who is also a versatile member of the softball team.
