The sophomore runner came up with her finest performance of the year when she finished ninth with a season-best time of 20 minutes, 24 seconds in the girls’ race at the Class A state cross country championships in Macon Nov. 3.
It was the second year in a row Henry placed ninth among the Class A girls — finishing with a personal-best 20:14 as a freshman.
Henry qualified for her spot at state with a third-place showing at the Region 5A meet at Our Lady of Mercy in Fairburn Oct. 25, running a time of 20:30
Her successful performances at the state and region meets capped off another successful season for Henry, who also placed seventh at the Asics Invitational (20:28) in Whitesburg Oct. 13 and third at the Aubrae Gunderson Invitational (20:48) in Conyers Sept. 29.
Henry’s dedication to improving as a runner is the key ingredient to the success she has achieved, according to Galloway coach Denny Beatty.
“Caroline has a great work ethic and gives everything when training,” Beatty said.
