Maddie Felts has taken a big step forward to adding to her state track and field title collection.

The Galloway senior, who claimed the Class A title in the 400-meter dash last year, won all three of her events — the 400, 300 hurdles and triple jump — at the Region 5A meet at Strong Rock Christian in Locust Grove April 18.

She won the 400 with a time of 58.31 seconds, the 300 hurdles at 46.24 and the triple jump with a mark of 35 feet, 9½ inches.

Felts is expected to be among the top contenders in all three of her events in the Class A private school competition May 9 through 11 at the state girls’ meet in Albany.

She has made her mark on Galloway girls’ track during her four-year career with eight school records (200, 300 hurdles, 400, 800, long jump, triple jump, 3,200 relay, distance medley relay) and eight region titles, including four in the triple jump and three in the 300 hurdles.

“Maddie is a talented student-athlete and she has achieved so many academic and athletic success because of her great work ethic and dedication to succeed,” Galloway coach Denny Beatty said. “Maddie’s willingness to learn and accept challenges has made her such a coachable athlete.”
