Female Athlete of the Week-Rachel Van Amburgh

Rachel Van Amburgh has been a key runner all season for the Roswell girls’ cross country team.

The sophomore came through again with another strong performance at the Region 5AAAAAA meet at Boling Park in Canton.

Van Amburgh finished fourth with a time of 19 minutes, 5 seconds to earn a spot in the Class AAAAAA girls’ race at Saturday’s state meet in Carrollton as well as helping the Hornets qualify as a team with a fourth-place finish in the team standings.

It has been a successful sophomore season for Van Amburgh, who was also the runner-up in the girls’ race at the Fulton County Championships at Milton Sept. 21.

She also ran 19:33 to finish 10th at the Warpath Invitational in Canton Sept. 14, 19:38 (fourth-place finish) at the Atlanta Classic in Douglasville Sept. 28, 19:39 (13th) at the Disney Cross Country Classic in Kissimmee, Fla. Oct. 11 and 19:42 (11th) at the Coach Wood Invitational in Gainesville Oct. 19.
