As a result, Grissom was given a white basketball full of signatures, while celebrating the accomplishment with her parents Marquis Grissom, the former MLB player, and Tia Bolden.
“I’m just blessed to even have the opportunity to get there,” Tianna Grissom said. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. They really helped me out and pushed me through last year and this year.”
“Anytime you score over 1,000 points it’s big,” Woodward girls’ basketball coach Kim Lawrence said. “But when you do it in less than three years, that’s a huge feat in my opinion.”
Grissom, who is the only senior, and junior Alexandria Williams have led the Lady War Eagles to a 6-3 start this season.
“In addition to being a natural, all-around athlete, Tianna has a great personality and you just can’t beat that,” Lawrence said. “She wants to win and that shows out on the court.”
Grissom has narrowed her college destination down to Mercer and Georgia State.
