At Adams Stadium, Tucker, the No. 1 ranked team in Class AAAAA, will host Heritage-Conyers (6-4) in a battle of Region 6 and Region 8 competitors. This will be the first-ever matchup between the Tigers, who have won their last 10 games, and the Patriots, who are winners of two in a row.
Last week, Tucker edged Mays 16-11 to earn its fifth perfect campaign in seven seasons. Dominick Sanders had three interceptions, including two in the fourth quarter. Raquan Rush and Elijah Sullivan both had rushing touchdowns.
The rest of the Region 6 teams will be facing unfamiliar foes as well but will do so on the road.
Stephenson (8-2) will meet Flowery Branch (7-3) from Region 8. The Jaguars capped the regular season with a 64-6 rout of North Atlanta last Thursday. Meanwhile, Flowery Branch had its seven-game winning streak ended with a 55-45 setback to Gainesville last Friday.
As far as Gainesville, M.L. King (7-3) will be visiting the Red Elephants, who are winners of nine straight, this Friday. Quarterback Deshaun Watson scored six touchdowns. The Lions closed the regular season with a 40-22 victory over Miller Grove, ending a two-game slide. Roland Rivers threw three touchdown passes and Jamel Smith and Devin Williams both ran for scores.
In Class AAAA, Cedar Grove (6-4) will visit Elbert County (8-2) in Elberton. Unfortunately, the Saints ended the regular season with a 21-14 loss last week. Labron Morris had a touchdown run and James Hartsfield threw a TD pass to Brandon Norwood but Cedar Grove fell victim to three turnovers.
Also in Class AAAA, Marist (8-2), the Region 6 champions, will host Stephens County (5-5) from Region 8. Griffin King and Chase Martenson both ran for a pair of touchdowns for the War Eagles, who defeated Carver-Atlanta 34-14 for their seventh consecutive victory.
In Class AAA, St. Pius (7-3) visits Hart County (9-1) in Hartwell. Last season, the Golden Lions defeated the Bulldogs 31-15 in the second round.
