The Development Authority of Fulton County Friday announced the retirement of its longtime executive director and the decision of its president to resign to pursue other interests. C. Clayton Powell retired in May after 41 years in various capacities with the authority including serving as a development authority founding board member, as board chairman, and ultimately becoming the executive director. President Maceo Rogers submitted his resignation to pursue other interests.

“Dr. Powell is an icon in the economic development world and we thank him for his four decades of service to job creation and business expansion in Fulton County,” said Bob Shaw, chairman of the authority’s board.  “Mr. Rogers came in to help us transition to a new generation of leadership and we thank him for the significant role he played in helping us move forward.”

The authority board has announced it will conduct a widespread search for a new executive director. Shaw will serve as the interim executive director until a replacement is hired.
