On April 20 around 2 a.m. a 911 call was made to the area of 105 Highland Drive in McDonough in reference to a trouble unknown call. Upon officer’s arrival they found a female, Tonia Lynn Gantt, 44, suffering from a head injury and a deceased male, Michael Raymond Patton, 45, inside the residence where they both lived. The victim died from a gunshot wound to the head. As a result of an extensive investigation, with assistance from the Butts County Sheriff’s office, arrests have been made in the case.
Joseph Franklin Norris, 49, recently out of Griffin has been charged with the murder of the victim and is in the Henry County Jail.
Gantt has been charged with murder and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and is in the Henry County Jail.
Gantt allegedly conspired with Norris to set up a robbery which ultimately led to gunfire and the death of the victim. She was struck in the head with a blunt object during the incident. This case is being prepared for prosecution and to preserve integrity, specific details cannot be released at this time.
