Maison Robert Fine Chocolates

Having had 35 years in business, Maison Robert Fine Chocolates has established itself in the local community. The Chamblee fine chocolate retailer is still run by Robert and Patricia Reeb, along with their daughter Katia.

Every item in the store is made fresh daily including croissants, baguettes, brioche, Danish and the best-selling quiche. The business features a variety of items sure to delight just about any customer.

Not only does the Reeb family make each item by hand, but they also package the items into a variety of gift boxes, many of which are specially crafted for the holiday season. Daughter Katia mentioned they have many specialty items just for Christmas including hollow, molded chocolate that is then filled with truffles.

“We make everything by hand, which I think distinguished us,” said Reeb. “And also quality ingredients – we use real butter, no margarine.”

One of the featured holiday cakes is the Buche de Noel, which Reeb said has already been flying off the shelf. The coconut macaroons dipped in dark chocolate are also a big seller for the store.

Reeb adds for those wishing to have custom orders for the holidays, to give between three to five days lead time, especially the closer it gets to Christmas.

Maison Robert Fine Chocolates is at 5256 Peachtree Road, Suite 110 in Chamblee. Holiday hours during December for Mondays are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Normal business hours are followed the rest of the week: Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and they are closed on Sunday.

Boogaloos Boutique

With a location in Decatur, Boogaloos Boutique has spread its uniqueness to the new city of Brookhaven. A proponent of “shopping local”, owner Penny Scheetz counts her business as a unique offering for customers looking for items not found in big box department stores.

The women’s retailer features a variety of clothing items like premium denim jeans, dresses, tops and tights. Store assistant manager Alice Kent also touted the store’s multitude of accessories like belts, scarves and purses.

In addition to the variety of clothing items, Boogaloos also keeps its local flavor by offering jewelry handcrafted by several local designers.

As far as more popular items for gift giving, Kent said customers tend to gravitate toward the jewelry.

“I think people really like to know that it’s locally designed,” she said.

To play into the season, the store also features a line of handmade stockings in different patterns and colors. New this season as well, is a new line of home décor items such as artwork, candles, picture frames and more.

Boogaloos Boutique is at 705 Town Blvd., Suite 530 in the Town Brookhaven plaza. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. They close at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day. The store will also close at 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
