From 5 to 9 p.m., residents are invited to get in the full swing of the holiday season.
Admission to the event is free of charge, as well as parking.
A complimentary shuttle, provided by Action Limousine, will transport attendees back and forth between city hall and the conference center.
Featured activities include live entertainment, reindeer games, refreshments, face painting, Christmas train rides as well as appearances from Santa, Mrs., Claus, Frosty the Snowman and the tallest elf in the world.
For children with a particular fascination with Santa’s helpers, they will be able to interact with the tallest elf in the world, also know as an elf on stilts.
Alphonso Thomas, Stockbridge councilman and chair of the event, said that the local community is also involved in the execution of thee vent.
“The live entertainment will be from several local schools including Stockbridge middle and high schools and Pates Creek Elementary,” he said.
Thomas said the average attendance at the event is 4,000 people.
Events like this one, said Thomas, are crucial because it fosters community involvement and appreciation.
“It is during the holiday season that the citizens pretty much look forward to this event,” he said. “This is an occasion where family members can bring the small kids out. This is how the city gives back and engages the citizens of Stockbridge.”
Sponsors for the event will also offer other activities.
Chick-fil-A, for instance, will sell dinner items for purchase and have the Santa cow on hand for photos.
Prestige Digital Imaging will host a photo booth area for pictures and produce prints on site.
Merle Manders Conference Center is at 111 Davis Road in Stockbridge.
