Tammy Howard has fulfilled the promise she made to her predecessor, with a little help from voters.

In the race for clerk of the Douglas County Superior Court, Howard easily won election to the seat she has held on a interim basis since March.

Howard, who served as chief deputy to her predecessor, Rhonda Payne, has won the special election to fill the seat following Payne death..

She won the seat, taking 4,047 votes to her challenger, Annetta Danley Stembridge’s 1,957.

“I love my job and because I am a servant of the people,” she said after the results were posted.
