John Ford has been named the new head football coach at Roswell High School. Ford served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Hornets last season.

Ford has ten years of previous coaching experience at the high school level and had been serving as interim head coach since previous head coach Justin Sanderson was let go at the conclusion of the 2012 season — Sanderson served as head coach for two seasons, going 0-10 in 2011 and 3-7 last season.

Ford came to Roswell from Harrison High School in Cobb County, where he coached running backs under longtime Hoya head coach Bruce Cobleigh. While at Harrison he helped develop current Georgia Tech running back Robbie Godhigh and was a member of Harrison’s state playoff teams in 2005 and 2007.

In 2008 Ford was hired by then Roswell head coach Leo Barker as running backs coach and special teams coordinator. Ford was the position coach for two All-State Kickers — Richie Leone (University of Houston) and Ty Long (UAB) — and was a member of Roswell’s 2009 and 2010 State Playoff teams that went to the Sweet 16.

Ford attended Brookwood High School in Gwinnett County where he played for Coach Dave Hunter. He was a member of the 1996 AAAA State Championship team and the 1997 AAAA Final Four team. He received his degree in Spanish from Clemson University and currently teaches Spanish at Roswell.
