The Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce anticipates this year’s business expo, to be Oct. 4, will be an even bigger success than last year’s inaugural event.

“We’re excited that we are at Perimeter Church [which will] give us much more space and greater visibility from the main road off Old Alabama and [Medlock Bridge Road],” said Maria Rose, operations and marketing director for the chamber.

The expo will feature 85 business vendors at the new venue, up from last year’s 60, Rose said. More than 1,000 guests came to the event last year.

“I would like us to shoot for 1,500 to 2,000 this year,” she said.

The expo will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free for those who register online in advance. For those who haven’t pre-registered, $5 will be collected at the door.

“The primary focus is to expose the community and other business owners to the businesses here in Johns Creek to enable them to network with other business professionals, make new contacts, find solutions to their business problems, build relationships with new customers, and learn about different products and services that could help their businesses,” Rose said.

In addition to local businesses showcased, there will be nine nonprofit organizations that will also have booths.

“It’s important that we help to facilitate … the community awareness to the different nonprofit organizations,” Rose said.

The business expo will include complementary lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and two educational sessions presented by the University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center. A session on strategic business planning will be held 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and a session on business financial planning will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

“They are two-hour sessions so it’s going to go a little more in depth than just a regular seminar,” Rose said.

“Most of our ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions are an hour. We’ve gone to two hours for these to dig a little bit deeper into both these two topics.”

There is no fee to attend the educational sessions but the chamber requests attendees register in advance as space is limited. For more information or to register for the event or educational sessions, visit www.johnscreekchamber .com.
