Judge Kelly A. Lee has replaced Judge Doris Downs as one of two jurists in the Drug Treatment Court of the Superior Court of Fulton County, the court announced Monday in a news release.

Lee will now rotate the responsibility with Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane, who joined Drug Treatment Court in 2011. Downs, an integral supporter of the accountability court concept, has presided over Drug Treatment Court since 2002 and will now transition into the Family Court Division of the Superior Court, while continuing to preside over the Fulton County Behavioral Health Court.

Lee joined the Fulton County Superior Court in January 2011 after winning an election for the seat in November 2010 and currently oversees a general jurisdiction docket.

Lee received her juris doctor from the University of Georgia in 1993 and also completed her undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Georgia.
