The New York-based foundation is a nonprofit whose mission is to celebrate, nurture and preserve America’s diverse culinary heritage and future. The annual honors are doled out to eateries all over the nation.The local semifinalists, by category, are:
o Best New Restaurant: Cardamom Hill in northwest Atlanta
o Outstanding Bar Program: Holeman & Finch in Buckhead (Porter Beer in Bar Little Five Points also made the list.)
o Outstanding Chef: Anne Quatrano of Bacchanalia in the Westside community
o Outstanding Pastry Chef: Aaron Russell of Restaurant Eugene in Buckhead
o Outstanding Restaurateur: Ford Fry, Rocket Farm Restaurants (The Optimist and JCT Kitchen, both in Westside, and No. 246 in Decatur); Mike Klank and Eddie Hernandez, Taqueria del Sol (four locations, including east Buckhead and Westside)
o Outstanding Service: Bacchanalia
Three Atlanta restaurants not in the area were nominated for Best Chef in the Southeast: Billy Allin of Cakes & Ale in Decatur, Todd Richards of The Shed at Glenwood in southeast Atlanta and Steven Satterfield of Miller Union in west Midtown.
The finalists will be named March 18.
