At last count, the Jaguars senior had accounted for 16 RBI and a DeKalb County-high five triples.
Barnes’ presence in the lineup has obviously given his ball club a much-needed boost at the plate. But, truth be told, he has literally been all over the place.
Barnes plays catcher, first base and pitcher for Stephenson — being dispatched to whatever spot on the field he’s needed most at the time. Chalk that up to athleticism and diamond savvy.
The Jaguars will undoubtedly continue to lean on the dynamic senior’s skills and intangibles as the regular season and his prep career draw to a close.
Consider it a safe bet that Barnes, in turn, will keep making good things happen for his team.
By the time he hangs up his cleats at this level, he will likely have given the hometown crowd much to talk about.
