Lakeside’s Chad Sitten is nothing if not dependable.

The senior first baseman has been doing his part — including swinging a hot bat — for the Vikings, helping the team get off to a solid 8-3 start.

If the six-foot Sitten always seems likes he’s on base, it’s because more often than not he is.

Through 11 games, Sitten is hitting .513 with 20 hits, 14 RBI and eight runs scored.

“He’s a good left-handed bat for us,” said Lakeside coach Bill Newsome. “He’s hitting the ball to all fields; he’s aggressive in the batter’s box … and he’s got four doubles and a triple, so he’s got some pop.”

The senior standout pounded out three hits in the Vikings’ 10-6 win over Region 6-AAAAA foe Southwest DeKalb March 22.

Whether purposely keeping the ball in play as part of situational baseball or swinging for the fences, Sitten has been successfully challenging opposing pitchers all season.

Indeed, he has the requisite skill set — hand-eye coordination, bat speed and plate I.Q. — to match wits and hits with hurlers of the highest caliber on the prep level.

Look for the talented senior to keep the hit parade going en route to finishing his prep baseball career in style.
