“He’s been a great player and a great captain for us all season,” said Dunwoody baseball head coach Chan English of Madden, who inked a scholarship last November to play Division-I baseball for the Mercer Bears in Macon. “He’s a solid hitter that isn’t just swinging for the fences and he is very comfortable working with our pitchers behind the plate.”
While helping the Wildcats to a 21-win regular season and 6AAAAA championship, the fourth-year letterman has hit exactly .500 during his senior campaign, belted a team-leading six homeruns, 33 hits, eight doubles and racked up 21 RBI.
Starting every game behind the dish, Madden is also at the back end of a battery that sports a team earned-run-average just over 2.00
“He’s a very gifted player that combines his talent with a lot of hard work in the weight room,” said the Dunwoody coach of Madden, who was a first-team all DeKalb County selection as a junior and on the fast track to repeating that honor this season.
“Great player, great attitude and a great kid all-around.”
