The junior has been solid as the Chargers’ starting shortstop and is batting .323.
He’s also become the club’s No. 1 guy in the pitching rotation, said ELCA skipper Doug Campbell.
In fact, Etheridge is playing the role of ace very well. He’s 5-0, with a .26 ERA and 44 strikeouts over 27 innings of work.
“He has had a big impact by dominating games on the mound and establishing his presence early in games,” Campbell said. “The team has confidence when he pitches.”
Etheridge’s athleticism is paying off in spades.
His dominance on the mound is rivaled by his work at shortstop.
“He has very good speed on the bases and also defends his position well,” Campbell added. “He’s made some very key defensive plays for our team … he’s got a very strong arm for a shortstop.”
Etheridge also fields his position better than most from the mound because of his physical abilities and range.
Needless to say, the undefeated Chargers are enjoying Etheridge’s contributions.
Said Campbell: “Dalton has really stepped up this year to help lead our team to the success we are enjoying thus far.”
