Heading into last weekend’s dual tournament in Louisiana, Hill was 12-3 at the 285 pound weight class with eight victories coming by pinfall. Included in that record was a perfect 4-0 mark at the prestigious Kyle Maynard Duals — held at Collins Hill High School just before Christmas.
“He turned up last year, earned a spot on the varsity team and really had a breakout year,” said Roswell wrestling coach Evan Goff of Hill, who won 36 matches, pinned 32 opponents and qualified for the GHSA Traditional State Tournament as a junior. “He has been wrestling well again this year, already beaten some tough kids that are picked to place at state and had a great week at Kyle Maynard.”
“It’s huge to have such a dependable guy at heavyweight, and we’re hopeful he can get back to state and lead our dual team there too.”
When not showing out on the wrestling mats, Hill also stars on the gridiron and in the classroom at Roswell. A two-year starter on the defensive lineman, the senior parlayed his football skills with a 3.75 grade point average and a 1940 on the SAT to earn a scholarship offer from Princeton where he plans to attend next year.
