The Bulldogs’ go-to guy was simply a force on the court night in and night out in this, his senior campaign.
McLendon put up 16 points on 63 percent shooting while pulling down 11 rebounds and blocking 3.8 shots — good for fifth, third, first and second among DeKalb prep players — per contest.
The 6 foot 6, 200-pound forward’s presence in the post and beyond gave opponents fits throughout the 2012-13 season. He essentially served as the cog in the Bulldogs’ game plan in both phases of the game — a luxury that any coach and fan base would covet.
Chamblee rode McLendon’s efforts to a solid season that ended in the team’s scrappy showing in the Region 6-AAAA tournament.
Although that outcome is not too his liking, McLendon should have no regrets as his prep career draws to a close … by all appearances, he left everything out on the floor.
