Of all the big plays that Chamblee made in its overtime win over Greater Atlanta Christian two weeks ago, Khari Rosier made the biggest one of all.

With five seconds remaining in regulation and the score tied at 21-all, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound senior defensive end came flying from the left side to block a 28-yard field goal attempt with five seconds remaining in regulation that would have won the game for GAC and sent it into overtime instead.

While GAC did make its next field goal attempt in the overtime period to take a 24-21 lead, Dezmin Reed scored on a 4-yard run later in the overtime period to provide the winning points for Chamblee.

Rosier’s big play helped Chamblee win its third straight game to start the season — giving the Bulldogs their first 3-0 start since 2007.

“He’s 6-3 and he can jump, so he was in good position to make that play,” Chamblee coach Allen Johnson said. “That was a clutch play for us.”

The Bulldogs went on to improve to 4-0 last Friday with a 29-7 win over South Atlanta.

Making the big play is nothing new for Rosier, who picked up the ball on a botched snap by Carver, Atlanta in a game last year and took the ball 13-yards into the end zone for a touchdown.

“He’s not vocal at times — he’s vert humble,” Johnson said. “But, he leads by example and he makes the clutch plays when we need them.”
