Tucker’s Mikalon Phillips is making his presence known on the diamond these days.

The senior second baseman/outfielder is putting together a solid season at the plate and defensively.

Despite the Tigers’ struggles as of late, Phillips has been among the bright spots in the ball club’s 2013 campaign thus far.

The 5-foot-8, 140-pound dynamo’s play is proof that good things can come in small — or slight — packages.

A returning starter from last season, Phillips is steadily building a reputation rooted in efficiency and execution of the fundamentals on the diamond.

Solid plate appearance after plate appearance, good glove-work and club house intangibles has made him a valuable asset on the Tigers’ roster.

Tucker headed into the week three games below .500 — which still puts it within reasonable striking distance of its Region 6-AAAAA rivals.

Look for Phillips and company to attempt to pick up the slack as the Tigers make a much-needed push for the postseason.
