“Athlete,” said the veteran coach. “He’s one of the best athletes in this school; he is a power hitter at the plate and he can run like a deer. When he gets on a roll he can carry our team for a long time.”
On a roll in the last month, Roberts helped Blessed Trinity win their final seven regular season games and claim their second straight region championship.
During that same seven-game stretch Roberts hit a pair of homeruns and went 8-for-16 at the plate, pushing his average to a team-best .364 and giving him three round-trippers on the season.
“When you have a guy with that kind of speed and power at the top of the order it makes the opposing coach uneasy, because if he gets going he can disrupt a game in a hurry,” said Harlin.
On top of his prowess on the baseball field, Roberts was a standout football player for the Titans in the fall as a starting wide receiver and defensive back.
Harlin said that Roberts, who is currently unsigned, hopes to play both sports in college and is currently receiving heavy interest from Kennesaw State University, Birmingham Southern College and others.
